Gwyneth Paltrow uses Oscar as a ‘doorstop’

Gwyneth Paltrow used her award show trophy as a ‘perfect doorstop’ in a recent Vogue interview. Later, her PR clarified the scene was ‘just a joke.’

Paltrow won the Best Actress Academy Award in 1999 for her stunning performance in the romantic comedy film Shakespeare in Love. While critics loved Paltrow’s Oscar-worthy performance, the celebrity has shared her mixed emotions about winning the biggest award of her entertainment career, saying, the award “weirds” her out.

“For weeks after I won I kept it in storage… I won’t even put it on the mantelpiece, the thing freaks me out,” she said in a 2005 interview.

“For some reason, I haven’t been able to feel really good about it. I just feel sort of embarrassed and it brings up weird, traumatic feelings. It’s associated with a tough time in my life.”

Fans react to the ‘iconic’ Gwyneth joke

Gwyneth has gained a reputation for being carefree in everything she does and fans love her move of using the Oscar award as a doorstop!

Speaking of the Goop Beauty owner’s humor, a fan commented on the YouTube video: “I love how Gwyneth has finally gotten to an age where she can be unapologetically out of touch but in a funny way. (Oscar as a door stop)!”

Another added that Paltrow is just revealing who deserved the Oscar more. They claimed: “It’s because even she knows she didn’t deserve this Oscar, the real winner was Fernanda Montenegro.”

Montenegro was nominated in the same year as Paltrow for her genius performance in the Portuguese film, Central Station.

“Gwyneth Paltrow using her Oscar as a doorstop? Well, that’s one way to make use of an award!,” a third fan quipped on X (formerly known as Twitter).
